8-Min One Pot Earth Arcade Buldak Ramen(Onion Mayo Buldak)
This Buldak ramen recipe was featured on the Korean variety show Earth Arcade. In Korea, it’s also known as “Jiraksil Buldak,” after the show’s Korean nickname. It became popular on social media as an easy way to try something different with Buldak ramen using everyday ingredients.

The key is cooking the onion slowly over low heat. Once it turns translucent and lightly golden, its natural sweetness pairs well with the spicy Buldak sauce. Mayonnaise and an egg yolk mellow the heat and add a richer flavor.
The original recipe includes a slice of cheddar, but I left it out because I wanted to keep more of Buldak’s heat. Even without the cheese, the sautéed onion, mayonnaise, and egg yolk made it creamy and rich enough for me.
Break the yolk and mix it into the noodles as you eat. If you like the sweetness of sautéed onion or want a change from your usual Buldak ramen, give this simple version a try.
Quick Overview
- Prep Time: 1 mins
- Cook Time: 7 mins
- Servings: 1 servings
Ingredients & Substitutions
Main
- 1 package Buldak ramen, including liquid sauce and flakes
- ½ onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp olive oil (or cooking oil)
- 1 egg yolk
- Mayonnaise, to taste
Optional
- 1 slice cheddar cheese
Step-by-Step Cooking Guide
Step 1. Slice the onion
- Thinly slice ½ onion.
- Tip: Use 1 whole onion if you like its sweetness.

Step 2. Cook the onion
- Add the oil and onion to a pan. Cook over low heat until translucent and lightly golden, then set aside.
- Tip: Keep the heat low to avoid burning the onion.

Step 3. Boil the noodles
- Cook the noodles in boiling water for about 3 minutes. Reserve about 1 ladleful of cooking water and discard the rest.

Step 4. Add the sauce and onion
- Add the liquid sauce and cooked onion. Toss over medium-low heat for about 1 minute, keeping the noodles slightly saucy.
- Tip: Adjust the heat depending on how much liquid remains. Use medium heat if there’s plenty of liquid, or low heat if there’s only a little left.

Step 5. Add the toppings
- Transfer the noodles to a bowl. If using cheddar, place it on the hot noodles and let the residual heat melt it. Drizzle with mayonnaise, sprinkle with the included flakes, and top with the egg yolk.
- Tip: Break the yolk and mix it into the noodles as you eat to mellow the heat.
