10-Minute One-Pot Chapagetti Rabokki(Ramen Tteokbokki)
Jjajang rabokki is made by cooking tteok and ramen noodles together in a black bean sauce. Its sweet sauce offers a different flavor from tteokbokki made with the usual spicy red sauce.
It’s also a popular dish at Yeokjeon Halmeoni Maekju, a well-known pub chain in Korea. I recently had it there at a work dinner for the first time in a while. I enjoyed it, so I tried making it at home.
The sauce for jjajang tteokbokki is usually made with chunjang (black bean paste). This recipe uses Chapagetti noodles and seasoning powder to keep things simple. One package provides both the noodles and the sauce, so there’s no need to buy chunjang separately.
I add wheat tteok and fish cake, along with gochugaru and gochujang for some heat. Unlike mild jjajang tteokbokki, this version is both sweet and spicy.
After stir-frying the scallion and gochugaru, add water to the same pot and cook the remaining ingredients. Everything cooks in one pot from start to finish, so there are fewer dishes to wash.

Ingredients & Substitutions
Main
- 1 package Chapagetti, including noodles, seasoning powder, vegetable flakes, and seasoning oil
- About a handful of wheat tteok (wheat-based tteokbokki cakes)
- ½ scallion, white and green parts separated
- 4 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
- 500ml water
- ½ tbsp gochujang (Korean red pepper paste)
- 1 tbsp sugar
Optional
- 1 Egg, for topping
- A pinch of sesame seeds
Step-by-Step Cooking Guide
Step 1. Prep the Ingredients
- Soak the wheat tteok in water. Cut the fish cake into bite-sized pieces. Slice the scallion, keeping the white and green parts separate.
- Tip: Soak frozen tteok for about 10 minutes. For refrigerated tteok, soak briefly until ready to add it to the pot.

Step 2. Stir-Fry the Scallion and Gochugaru
- Add the olive oil, gochugaru, scallion whites, and vegetable flakes to a pot. Stir-fry over low heat for 1–2 minutes, stirring to prevent burning.

Step 3. Add Water
- Pour in 500ml water and bring to a boil.

Step 4. Cook the Tteok and Noodles
- Add the noodles, seasoning powder, gochujang, and sugar. Boil over high heat for 5 minutes total. Add the scallion greens during the final minute and cook just until softened.
- Tip: Stove heat varies. Watch the sauce and reduce the heat to medium if it starts reducing too quickly.

Step 5. Finish and Serve
- Turn off the heat and transfer to a bowl. Add the included seasoning oil, then top with egg and sesame seeds, if using.
